Classified as an "improved new drug" (개량신약) in South Korea, AD-209 combines **dutasteride**, a dual 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), with **minoxidil**, a vasodilator that stimulates hair follicles by opening ATP-sensitive potassium channels. This oral combination therapy is designed to provide synergistic efficacy by targeting two distinct biological pathways of hair loss while improving patient compliance through a single daily dosage form. As of 2024, AD-209 is in Phase 3 clinical development in South Korea.
