Overview

DV901-NP is an investigational HIV-1 vaccine candidate consisting of protein nanoparticles that display the CH505 envelope (Env) protein. Developed by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in collaboration with the Duke Human Vaccine Institute, it is designed to initiate the development of broadly neutralizing antibodies (bNAbs) by targeting specific B-cell lineages. The CH505 lineage was identified from an HIV-infected individual whose immune system naturally evolved bNAbs over time. By presenting multiple copies of the CH505 Env protein on a nanoparticle scaffold, the vaccine aims to enhance immune recognition and B-cell activation compared to monomeric proteins. In Phase 1 clinical trials, DV901-NP is evaluated for safety and immunogenicity, often formulated with the TLR7/8 agonist adjuvant ACU-026-001-1.
