DW-1001

DW-1001 is a small molecule ophthalmic drug candidate being developed by D. Western Therapeutics Institute (DWTI) for the relief of pain following ophthalmic surgery. In-licensed from a British company in June 2015, the drug represents a drug repositioning strategy, utilizing a compound already on the market for other indications to serve as a non-NSAID alternative for ocular pain management. In December 2019, DWTI entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with ROHTO Pharmaceutical for the development, manufacturing, and commercialization of DW-1001 in Japan. The specific active ingredient and biological target of the compound have not been publicly disclosed.
