Overview

DW1029M is a botanical drug candidate developed as a nephroprotective agent for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy. It is an extract composed of Morus (mulberry) bark and Puerariae radix (kudzu root), containing multiple active constituents. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) formation via Fe(2+) chelation, inhibition of rat lens aldose reductase activity, and blockade of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1) signaling. These pathways are implicated in the pathogenesis and progression of diabetic complications such as diabetic nephropathy and retinopathy. Clinical studies have shown that oral administration is safe and well-tolerated in healthy subjects at doses up to 1200 mg[1][5][2][3].
