Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DW1030 is a pharmaceutical drug developed by Daewon Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. It is a formulation of eperisone hydrochloride (eperisone HCl), an antispasmodic drug. Eperisone HCl primarily functions as a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant. Its multifaceted mechanism of action involves blocking voltage-gated sodium and calcium channels, which reduces neuronal excitability in the spinal cord, thereby decreasing muscle stiffness and spasms. It also enhances blood circulation in skeletal muscles by inhibiting the contraction of vascular smooth muscles, leading to vasodilation and improved microcirculation. Additionally, eperisone HCl exhibits a central muscle relaxant effect by acting on the gamma efferent motor system and enhances GABAergic inhibition. Recent research also indicates it acts as a P2X7 receptor antagonist. DW1030 is being investigated for conditions such as acute back pain.
