Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DW1030 is a novel small-molecule potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) under development by Dongwha Pharmaceutical for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and gastric ulcers. As an innovative new drug candidate, DW1030 functions by reversibly inhibiting the gastric H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) through competition with potassium ions. This mechanism offers several clinical advantages over traditional proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), including a faster onset of action, more consistent acid suppression, and the ability to be administered independently of food intake. DW1030 entered Phase 1 clinical trials in South Korea in late 2023 to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in healthy volunteers.
