Overview

DW1601 is an oral fixed-dose combination syrup developed for the treatment of acute bronchitis. It consists of two main components: DW16011 (a dihydrocodeine compound containing ammonium chloride as an expectorant, chlorpheniramine maleate as an antihistamine, and dihydrocodeine as an antitussive) and *Pelargonium sidoides* extract (a herbal remedy with traditional use in respiratory tract infections). The drug was designed to enhance symptom relief—particularly cough and sputum production—in patients with acute bronchitis. Clinical trials have demonstrated that DW1601 provides superior improvement in bronchitis severity scores compared to its individual components, with a favorable safety profile[1][2][6]. DW16011 is a multi-component syrup containing dihydrocodeine (opioid antitussive), ammonium chloride (expectorant), and chlorpheniramine maleate (antihistamine). *Pelargonium sidoides* is a plant extract used for respiratory symptoms; its precise mechanism remains unclear but may involve immunomodulatory or antimicrobial effects. The combination aims to provide broader symptomatic relief than either component alone[6]. No significant adverse events were reported in clinical studies.
