DW6014 is a fixed-dose combination drug developed by Dong Wha Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. It consists of empagliflozin and metformin in an extended-release formulation. Empagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, which reduces glucose reabsorption in the kidney, while metformin is a biguanide that decreases hepatic gluconeogenesis and increases insulin sensitivity. The combination is intended for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus[5][3][4].
