Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DWJ1718 is an investigational oral solid dosage form medication being developed by Daewoong Pharmaceutical (also known as Great Bear Pharmaceutical) for the treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It is classified as an incrementally modified drug (IMD), specifically a new formulation of methylphenidate hydrochloride. The drug is designed to provide a controlled or extended release of the active ingredient to improve therapeutic efficacy and patient adherence compared to existing formulations. DWJ1718 acts as a stimulant by inhibiting the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine in the central nervous system, thereby increasing their availability in the synaptic cleft. The program has progressed into Phase 3 clinical development in South Korea.
