Overview

DWP705 is a liquid formulation of botulinum toxin type A being developed by Daewoong Pharmaceutical for aesthetic applications, specifically the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines) in adults. Unlike traditional botulinum toxin products that are supplied as a lyophilized powder requiring reconstitution with saline, DWP705 is a ready-to-use liquid formulation designed to enhance convenience and minimize the risk of dosing errors or contamination during preparation. The drug acts as a neuromuscular blocking agent by entering peripheral cholinergic nerve terminals and enzymatically cleaving the synaptosomal-associated protein 25 (SNAP-25). This cleavage prevents the formation of the SNARE complex, thereby inhibiting the exocytosis of acetylcholine into the neuromuscular junction, resulting in temporary muscle relaxation and the smoothing of wrinkles.
