DWP708 is an investigational topical formulation of minocycline developed by Daewoong Pharmaceutical for the treatment of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) inhibitor-related skin toxicities (ERSE). EGFR inhibitors, which are widely used in the treatment of various solid tumors, frequently cause dermatological adverse events such as acneiform eruptions and rashes, which can significantly impact patient quality of life and lead to treatment interruption. DWP708 leverages the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of minocycline, a tetracycline-class antibiotic, to treat these skin eruptions locally. By utilizing a topical route of administration, DWP708 aims to provide therapeutic benefits directly to the affected skin while minimizing the systemic exposure and associated side effects typically seen with oral tetracycline therapy. The drug is currently in Phase 2 clinical development.
