DWRX5001 is a microneedle patch formulation of recombinant human growth hormone (somatropin) currently under development by Daewoong Pharmaceutical. The program utilizes a proprietary microneedle delivery platform designed to administer the protein therapeutic through the skin, providing a minimally invasive alternative to the standard daily subcutaneous injections required for patients with growth hormone deficiency (GHD). By penetrating the stratum corneum and delivering somatropin into the dermal layers, the system aims to improve patient compliance and convenience while maintaining the efficacy of systemic growth hormone therapy. The drug acts as an agonist at the growth hormone receptor, stimulating linear growth and various metabolic processes.
