DX-9065a

DX-9065a is a synthetic, small molecule, direct factor Xa (FXa) inhibitor developed by Daiichi (now Daiichi Sankyo). It acts as a competitive and selective inhibitor of FXa, functioning independently of antithrombin III. Unlike indirect inhibitors like heparin, DX-9065a can inactivate both free and fibrin-bound factor Xa, which is critical for suppressing thrombin generation within a developing clot. It was primarily investigated for the treatment and prevention of thrombotic disorders, including stable coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndromes, and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). Despite showing promise in early clinical trials, its development was largely discontinued in favor of other oral factor Xa inhibitors like edoxaban.
