Overview

DX600 is a potent, selective peptide inhibitor of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2). It binds to ACE2 with high affinity (Ki values in the low nanomolar range) and does not inhibit the related angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), making it highly specific for ACE2. Mechanistically, by inhibiting ACE2, it blocks its cardioprotective effects and can prevent SARS-CoV-2 spike protein from binding to ACE2 on human cells. This property has made it a valuable research tool for studying cardiovascular biology and viral entry mechanisms, particularly in the context of COVID-19. Radiolabeled derivatives of DX600 have been developed as molecular imaging probes for noninvasive mapping of ACE2 expression in vivo[1][3][4][6].
