Drug intelligence / Profile preview
dyclonine hydrochloride + polyethylene glycol is a combination regimen used for bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy. Dyclonine hydrochloride is a local anesthetic that, when administered as a mucilage, provides topical anesthesia to the gastrointestinal mucosa and acts as an anti-foaming agent to improve endoscopic visibility by reducing bubbles. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a high-molecular-weight osmotic laxative that facilitates bowel cleansing by increasing the water content and volume of the stool. This combination is being evaluated in Phase 4 clinical trials, notably at Changhai Hospital, to determine its efficacy in enhancing the adenoma detection rate (ADR) and improving the quality of bowel preparation for colorectal cancer screening.
