Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**E-B-FAHF-2** is an oral, enhanced ethyl acetate/butanol-purified version of Food Allergy Herbal Formula-2, a standardized nine-herb traditional Chinese medicine-derived botanical formula based on Wu Mei Wan. It is being developed as an immunomodulatory botanical drug for food allergy and mild-to-moderate Crohn's disease. Preclinical and ex vivo studies indicate suppression of NF-κB-associated inflammatory signaling and reduced production of pro-inflammatory cytokines including TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-17, IFN-γ, and IL-12 in Crohn's disease models and patient-derived samples. It has been evaluated orally in Phase 2 food-allergy studies, including as an adjunct to omalizumab-facilitated multi-allergen oral immunotherapy, and is in a Phase 1 study in mild-to-moderate Crohn's disease.
