E-fet

E-fet is an oral tablet formulation of levocetirizine (5mg), a second-generation antihistamine developed and manufactured by Quality Chemical Industries (QCIL) in Uganda. As the active R-enantiomer of cetirizine, levocetirizine acts as a highly selective and potent antagonist of peripheral histamine H1 receptors. By inhibiting the action of histamine, it effectively manages symptoms associated with allergic conditions, including seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis (such as sneezing, nasal discharge, and ocular itching) and chronic idiopathic urticaria. Due to its high selectivity for peripheral receptors and low lipid solubility, it has a reduced potential for crossing the blood-brain barrier, resulting in a lower incidence of sedation compared to first-generation antihistamines.
