E-selectin adenovirus refers to a recombinant adenoviral gene therapy vector engineered to express human E-selectin, a cell adhesion molecule involved in endothelial-leukocyte interactions during inflammation and angiogenesis. The adenovirus platform is used for transduction in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo, typically to deliver the E-selectin gene to endothelial cells, resulting in cell-surface E-selectin expression and subsequent biological effects. Mechanistically, E-selectin expressed via adenoviral transduction mediates leukocyte adhesion under flow conditions and can modify cellular sensitivity to other therapeutics such as endostatin (an antiangiogenic agent), requiring the E-selectin cytoplasmic domain for full functional effects[1][4]. Adenoviral E-selectin constructs are employed experimentally to dissect the role of E-selectin in angiogenesis, inflammation, and vascular biology, including modeling leukocyte recruitment and testing antiangiogenic interactions[1][4]. These constructs are typically used in research and preclinical models, and not as a commercial pharmaceutical product.
