Overview

E06-scFv is a single-chain variable fragment (scFv) derived from the natural IgM antibody E06, which specifically recognizes the phosphocholine (PC) headgroup of oxidized phospholipids (OxPL). OxPL are key drivers of chronic inflammation and foam cell formation in atherosclerosis. By binding to and sequestering OxPL, E06-scFv prevents their recognition and uptake by macrophage scavenger receptors, thereby inhibiting the development of atherosclerotic plaques. Preclinical research, primarily conducted in transgenic mouse models, has demonstrated that systemic expression of E06-scFv can mitigate plaque progression, reduce NETosis (neutrophil extracellular trap formation), and inhibit arterial thrombosis. The molecule is a significant research tool and therapeutic candidate for cardiovascular diseases characterized by lipid oxidation and inflammation.
