Overview

E2609 + donepezil is an investigational **combination therapy** consisting of E2609 (elzenecestat) and donepezil. **E2609** is a small molecule beta-secretase (BACE) inhibitor being developed for Alzheimer's disease, aiming to reduce amyloid-beta production in the brain. **Donepezil** is an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, approved for use in Alzheimer's disease, that enhances cholinergic neurotransmission by inhibiting the breakdown of acetylcholine. The combination is intended to target multiple aspects of Alzheimer's pathology by simultaneously modulating beta-amyloid synthesis (via E2609) and improving cholinergic function (via donepezil). The combination is under investigation and has been studied for pharmacokinetic and drug-drug interaction profiles in clinical trials; however, as of now, this specific combination does not have an approved, unique brand name and is not commercially available as a fixed-dose combination.
