E3112

E3112 is an investigational humanized monoclonal antibody being developed by EA Pharma (a joint venture between Eisai and Ajinomoto) for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. It specifically targets the **α4β7 integrin**, a cell surface glycoprotein expressed on circulating B and T lymphocytes. By binding to α4β7 integrin, E3112 inhibits its interaction with mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1), thereby preventing the infiltration of inflammatory white blood cells into the gastrointestinal mucosa. This mechanism is intended to reduce the chronic inflammation characteristic of ulcerative colitis. As of early 2024, E3112 is in Phase 2 clinical development, following Phase 1 studies that evaluated its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers.
