Drug intelligence / Profile preview
E44f is a wild-type bacteriophage belonging to the Myoviridae family that is active against Escherichia coli (specifically E. coli strain DSM 1103). Isolated from municipal wastewater in Kyiv, Ukraine, E44f is being investigated by researchers at Bogomolets National Medical University for its potential applications in phage therapy to combat antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections. Studies have evaluated the influence of carbohydrates, such as glucose, on the stability and infectivity of E44f virions during storage, as well as the optimization of nutrient media to enhance its cultivation and production efficiency.
