EA‑230 is a synthetic linear tetrapeptide (sequence AQGV), originally derived from beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (beta-hCG). It acts as an immunomodulator and anti-inflammatory agent, developed primarily for the treatment of systemic inflammation-related disorders such as sepsis, acute systemic inflammation, postoperative complications, radiation toxicity, and renal failure following major surgery. Mechanistically, EA‑230 helps maintain vascular wall integrity during acute vascular stress by providing amino acids that signal through the mTOR complex in vascular cells. This action reduces capillary leakage and improves hemodynamic stability in patients undergoing major surgery. The drug has demonstrated strong anti-inflammatory effects by attenuating increases in inflammatory mediators like IL‑6 and IL‑8 in both animal models and human clinical trials. Developed by Exponential Biotherapies, it has shown an excellent safety profile with fewer adverse events than placebo across multiple clinical studies[1][3][4][5][6].
