**EA-2351** is a novel small molecule developed by Endogena Therapeutics for the treatment of geographic atrophy (GA), an advanced form of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) characterized by retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cell death and irreversible vision loss. It works through selective regulation of endogenous adult stem and progenitor cells to promote RPE cell proliferation, maturation, and wound repair, thereby regenerating retinal tissue and restoring photoreceptor function. Preclinical studies in rat models of GA demonstrated improved electroretinogram readings, visual acuity, and reduced RPE injury compared to controls, with FDA IND clearance granted in October 2023 to enable first-in-human trials planned for 2024.[1][2][4]
