EA-2353

EA-2353 is a novel small molecule drug developed by Endogena Therapeutics for the treatment of retinitis pigmentosa (RP). It selectively activates endogenous retinal stem and progenitor cells, which differentiate into photoreceptors, potentially preserving or restoring visual function. The drug is administered via intravitreal injection. It has received Orphan Drug Designation and Fast Track Designation from the US FDA. Its mechanism involves inhibition of kinase mediators in the Wnt pathway as well as acting as an endogenous retinal stem activator. Clinical development reached Phase 1/2a trials before being terminated due to corporate decisions unrelated to safety concerns.
