EA4017

EA4017 is an orally bioavailable, small molecule antagonist of the **integrin alpha-4/beta-7 (α4β7)**, currently under development by **EA Pharma Co., Ltd.** for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. By selectively targeting the α4β7 integrin, EA4017 aims to inhibit the interaction between α4β7-expressing lymphocytes and mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1) on the vascular endothelium of the gastrointestinal tract. This mechanism prevents the infiltration of inflammatory cells into the gut mucosa, thereby reducing intestinal inflammation. As a small molecule, EA4017 offers an oral alternative to injectable biologics (such as vedolizumab) that target the same pathway. It is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers.
