Overview

EAGD T-cells (ex vivo expanded/activated gamma delta T-cells) is an investigator-initiated cellular immunotherapy developed by the University of Kansas Medical Center. The therapy involves the enrichment and expansion of donor-derived gamma delta (γδ) T cells using the CliniMACS Alpha Beta T-Cell Depletion System. These cells are part of the innate immune system and can recognize and kill malignant cells in a non-MHC-restricted manner, which potentially reduces the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) compared to conventional alpha beta T cells. The therapy is being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for patients with high-risk hematological malignancies, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), where it is administered following haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and post-transplant cyclophosphamide to prevent disease relapse.
