Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ear pills + Shengmai capsule is a combination therapy being developed by the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine for the management of symptoms in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). Shengmai capsule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula typically composed of *Panax ginseng*, *Ophiopogon japonicus*, and *Schisandra chinensis*, designed to replenish Qi and nourish Yin. Ear pills are used in auriculotherapy, where they are applied to specific points on the ear to provide continuous stimulation. This combined approach aims to alleviate thirst, reduce the incidence of intradialytic hypotension, and control interdialytic weight gain by limiting water and sodium intake, thereby potentially reducing cardiovascular mortality in hemodialysis patients.
