Overview
EarCell is a regenerative therapy platform developed by Leonhardt Ventures for the treatment of hearing loss, specifically chronic noise-induced hearing loss. The therapy employs a multi-modal approach combining bioelectric stimulation, stem cell therapy, and the controlled release of growth factors. It utilizes a regeneration microstimulator and an implantable, programmable micro-infusion pump to deliver stem cells and modulate the expression of specific proteins, including Stromal cell-derived factor 1 (SDF-1), Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), Epidermal growth factor (EGF), Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), and Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). These factors work synergistically to recruit progenitor cells and promote the regeneration of sensory hair cells within the cochlea.
