Overview
East Indian sandalwood oil cream is a topical botanical preparation derived from the essential oil of the Santalum album tree (East Indian sandalwood). The active ingredient—East Indian sandalwood oil (EISO)—is rich in alpha- and beta-santalol and has demonstrated anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antiproliferative properties. Its mechanism of action includes inhibition of phosphodiesterase enzymes (notably PDE4), leading to reduced pro-inflammatory cytokine production and suppression of NF-κB activation. Clinically, EISO creams have shown promise in treating inflammatory skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis (eczema), psoriasis, acne vulgaris, molluscum contagiosum, common warts (condylomata acuminata), and other dermatological disorders. The product has been developed for topical use with a favorable safety profile[2][5][6][7].
