EB-105 is a novel trispecific fusion antibody developed for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME). It is designed to simultaneously inhibit multiple key pathways involved in vascular leakage, angiogenesis, and retinal inflammation. Specifically, EB-105 targets and inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), vascular endothelial growth factor B (VEGF-B), placental growth factor (PlGF), angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2), and interleukin 6 receptor (IL-6R). By blocking these factors, the drug aims to reduce retinal edema and improve visual acuity in patients with DME who may not respond adequately to current anti-VEGF therapies. Preclinical studies have demonstrated effective inhibition of VEGF/VEGFR2, Ang2/Tie2, and IL6/IL6R signaling pathways. Early clinical data from a Phase 1 trial show improvements in best-corrected visual acuity and reductions in central retinal subfield thickness after a single intravitreal injection across all tested dose levels without significant safety concerns[1][4][5][7].
