EB 1213 is a synthetic vitamin D analog, a small molecule with the molecular formula C31H44O4. It functions by binding to the intracellular vitamin D receptor (VDR) and is more efficient than 1alpha,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1alpha,25[OH]2D3) in inducing VDR transcription. In preclinical studies, EB 1213 demonstrated potent anti-proliferative and differentiation-inducing effects on human skin cells in vitro, suggesting its potential for conditions like psoriasis.
