EB1005 is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody candidate being developed by Eden Biologics (formerly JHL Biotech) for oncology indications, specifically targeting HER2-positive cancers. It is a biosimilar of pertuzumab (Perjeta). Pertuzumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that binds to the extracellular dimerization domain (subdomain II) of the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). By binding to this specific domain, EB1005 inhibits the dimerization of HER2 with other members of the HER family, including EGFR (HER1), HER3, and HER4. This inhibition prevents the activation of downstream signaling pathways, such as the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) pathways, which are critical for tumor cell growth and survival. Additionally, like the reference product, EB1005 may mediate antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). As of the latest pipeline updates, EB1005 is in the preclinical stage of development.
