Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EB613 is an investigational orally delivered tablet formulation of human parathyroid hormone (1–34) [PTH(1–34)], also known as teriparatide. It is being developed as the first once-daily oral anabolic (bone-forming) therapy for postmenopausal women with high-risk osteoporosis. Unlike existing injectable forms of teriparatide (such as Forteo), EB613 offers a patient-friendly alternative by providing the same 34-amino acid sequence in a mini-tablet form. The drug acts as a parathyroid hormone replacement and stimulates bone formation through its pulsatile action on bone metabolism. Developed by Entera Bio, it has completed Phase 2 trials demonstrating efficacy in increasing bone mineral density and is preparing to enter Phase 3 registrational studies[2][3][5][6].
