Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EBD™ (Enhanced Brain Delivery) is a preclinical-stage therapeutic program developed by Acumen Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with JCR Pharmaceuticals. The technology involves the fusion of monoclonal antibodies targeting toxic soluble amyloid beta oligomers (AβOs), such as sabirnetug (ACU193), with transferrin receptor (TfR) binders using JCR's J-Brain Cargo® platform. This approach utilizes receptor-mediated transcytosis to facilitate the transport of the antibody across the blood-brain barrier (BBB), significantly increasing central nervous system (CNS) penetration. Preclinical models have demonstrated a 15 to 68-fold increase in brain uptake compared to conventional antibodies, aiming to improve clinical outcomes in patients with early Alzheimer's disease by achieving higher therapeutic concentrations at the site of pathology.
