Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ebenatide (TG103) is a novel, long-acting recombinant human glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist developed by CSPC Pharmaceutical Group. It is a peptide analogue of the endogenous GLP-1 hormone, designed for the treatment of metabolic disorders including type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity. Ebenatide functions by binding to and activating the GLP-1 receptor, which promotes glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppresses glucagon release, and slows gastric emptying to increase satiety. Clinical studies, including a 52-week interventional trial (NCT05990374), have demonstrated that ebenatide significantly improves glycemic control—evidenced by reductions in HbA1c and improved time-in-range (TIR)—while facilitating substantial weight loss and reductions in body fat percentage and waist-to-height ratio. The drug is typically administered via subcutaneous injection and is currently in late-stage clinical development.
