Overview

EBI-02 is a small molecule Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) antagonist being developed by EBI Biotech, a South Korean biotechnology company, primarily for the treatment of atopic dermatitis. TLR4 is a key component of the innate immune system that recognizes both pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs), triggering the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. By inhibiting TLR4 signaling, EBI-02 aims to suppress the chronic inflammatory response and alleviate pruritus (itching) associated with atopic dermatitis. The drug is designed for topical administration to provide localized therapeutic effects while minimizing systemic exposure. It has progressed into early-stage clinical trials to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in patients with inflammatory skin conditions.
