Overview

EBI3 siRNA is a small interfering RNA therapeutic candidate designed to silence the expression of the Epstein-Barr virus-induced gene 3 (EBI3). EBI3 encodes a secretory glycoprotein that is significantly upregulated in various lung cancers, including adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and small cell lung cancer. Research indicates that EBI3 acts as an oncoprotein, and its overexpression is linked to poor patient prognosis. By utilizing the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, EBI3 siRNA targets and degrades EBI3 mRNA, leading to the suppression of cancer cell proliferation and growth. This approach has been explored by researchers at the Shiga University of Medical Science and the University of Tokyo as a potential precision medicine strategy for lung cancer.
