Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EBP22 is an experimental oral formulation of teriparatide (human parathyroid hormone fragment 1-34) developed by Entera Bio. It is designed using Entera's proprietary technology to enable the oral delivery of large molecules and peptides, which typically have poor bioavailability due to enzymatic degradation and low permeability in the gastrointestinal tract. EBP22 was studied in Phase 1 clinical trials (such as NCT04538183) to evaluate its safety and pharmacokinetic profile compared to earlier oral formulations (like EBP05) and the reference subcutaneous injection, Forteo. The development of these formulations aims to provide a more convenient treatment option for conditions like hypoparathyroidism and osteoporosis.
