Overview

EBP3 is a preclinical blocking peptide designed to disrupt the interaction between extracellular Enolase 1 (Eno1) and Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2). Developed by researchers at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, EBP3 targets the Eno1-TLR2 binding axis to inhibit downstream NF-κB signaling and inflammatory M1 macrophage polarization. In preclinical models of acute kidney injury (AKI), including bilateral renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (BIRI) and cisplatin-induced AKI, treatment with EBP3 effectively reduced inflammatory macrophage activation and protected against renal damage, suggesting its potential as a novel therapeutic strategy for AKI.
