Overview

Ebronucimab is a fully human IgG1 monoclonal antibody that targets proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9). By binding to circulating PCSK9, ebronucimab blocks its interaction with the LDL receptor on hepatocytes. This inhibition prevents PCSK9-mediated degradation of LDL receptors, resulting in increased numbers of LDL receptors on liver cells and enhanced clearance of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) from the bloodstream. Ebronucimab is indicated for patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease who are unable to achieve adequate lipid lowering with statins or statins plus ezetimibe. The drug has demonstrated significant reductions in LDL-C and other lipid parameters and was generally well tolerated in clinical trials[2][3][4].
