EBV-specific cytokine-secreting TCR-T cells represent an engineered T-cell therapy designed to target Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-positive cancers, such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma. These T cells are genetically modified to express a T-cell receptor (TCR) that specifically recognizes EBV-derived epitopes presented on the surface of infected cancer cells. A key feature of this therapy is the incorporation of a cytokine-secretion element, which enables the engineered T cells to release cytokines. This cytokine secretion is intended to enhance the anti-tumor immune response by activating both innate immune cells (like NK cells) and other adaptive immune cells, thereby helping to overcome the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment often found in solid cancers and improving therapeutic efficacy.
