Overview

EBV TCR-T cell therapy is an autologous T-cell receptor (TCR) engineered T-cell therapy designed to target Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) antigens in patients with EBV-associated malignancies. The therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's T cells to express a TCR specific for the EBV latent membrane protein 2A (LMP2A), restricted by specific human leukocyte antigen (HLA) alleles such as HLA-A*0201, HLA-A*2402, or HLA-A*1101. Developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University, this cell therapy is being evaluated in clinical trials for the treatment of relapsed or refractory EBV-positive lymphomas and nasopharyngeal lymphomas. The mechanism involves the recognition of LMP2A peptides on the surface of tumor cells, leading to T-cell activation and targeted cytotoxicity against the EBV-driven cancer cells.
