Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**EBX-001** is an investigational inhaled fixed-dose anti-infective combination of the aminoglycoside antibiotic tobramycin and fumarate, developed by EnBiotix for chronic *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* lung infection, particularly in cystic fibrosis. Fumarate acts as a bacterial metabolic potentiator intended to increase aminoglycoside uptake and enhance tobramycin-mediated killing of metabolically quiescent, antibiotic-tolerant *P. aeruginosa* persister cells and biofilms. Preclinical and translational studies reported substantially enhanced bacterial killing relative to tobramycin alone. ([journals.asm.org](https://journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/aac.00987-17))
