Overview
EC-501 is a novel, 6-month durable anti-VEGF drug candidate being developed by Eclipse Life Sciences. It consists of a ranibizumab biosimilar delivered via an extended-release intravitreal formulation. The drug is designed to inhibit vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which is a primary driver of pathological neovascularization and vascular leakage in retinal diseases. By providing a sustained-release profile, EC-501 aims to significantly reduce the treatment burden for patients with wet age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), and retinal vein occlusion (RVO) compared to standard-of-care intravitreal injections.
