EC-7072

EC-7072 (Mithramycin SK) is a small molecule mithramycin analog (mithralog) developed by EntreChem S.L. through combinatorial biosynthesis. It is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). The drug's mechanism of action involves binding to GC-rich DNA sequences, which inhibits the binding of Sp transcription factors (such as Sp1). In CLL cells, this leads to the profound downregulation of multiple components of the B-cell receptor (BCR) signaling cascade and the induction of caspase-3-dependent apoptosis. EC-7072 has shown potent ex vivo activity against CLL cells, including those with high-risk markers, while exhibiting selectivity over healthy T and NK cells. It has also been explored in other solid tumors like prostate cancer.
