Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EC0225 is a drug conjugate developed by Endocyte. It consists of folic acid conjugated to desacetylvinblastine hydrazide. The folic acid moiety acts as a targeting agent, binding to folate receptors often overexpressed on the surface of various cancer cells. Desacetylvinblastine hydrazide is a cytotoxic agent, a derivative of vinblastine, which exerts its anticancer effects by inhibiting microtubule formation, thereby disrupting cell division and leading to apoptosis in targeted tumor cells. It is being investigated for the treatment of refractory or metastatic tumors.
