Overview

EC5026 is a first-in-class, orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor of soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH), developed by EicOsis for the treatment of pain[1][2][3][4][5][7][8]. By inhibiting sEH at picomolar concentrations, EC5026 prolongs the action of endogenous epoxy fatty acids—lipid mediators with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties that are otherwise rapidly metabolized by sEH[1][3][4]. This mechanism offers a novel non-opioid and non-NSAID approach to managing acute and chronic pain from various conditions. Preclinical studies suggest additional neuroprotective, cardioprotective, and anti-inflammatory benefits. Clinical trials have shown favorable safety profiles in healthy volunteers; ongoing development includes Phase Ib studies in patients with moderate to severe pain such as neuropathic pain and spinal cord injury-related pain[1][3][5][7].
