Overview

ECAR01 is an investigational autologous chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy developed by Anhui Provincial Hospital (also known as the First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology of China). This therapy consists of genetically modified T cells that dual-target B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) and B-lymphocyte antigen CD19. BCMA is a protein primarily expressed on the surface of malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma, while CD19 is a hallmark biomarker for B-cell lineage cells, including those in acute B-cell leukemia and B-cell lymphoma. By targeting both antigens, ECAR01 is designed to enhance anti-tumor activity and reduce the risk of relapse due to antigen loss or escape. The therapy is currently being evaluated in an early exploratory, dose-escalation clinical study to assess its safety and preliminary efficacy in patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell malignancies.
