Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Echinacea-p PCA is a plant cell culture-derived nutraceutical ingredient developed by Ayana Bio, specifically designed for immune support and maintaining a healthy inflammatory response. Produced using proprietary plant cell cultivation technology, it allows for the production of *Echinacea purpurea* biomass in weeks rather than the years required for traditional agriculture. The resulting non-GMO plant powder is standardized to contain high levels of bioactives, including at least 2.0% w/w cichoric acid (total polyphenols), along with caftaric acid and flavonoids. Mechanistically, the ingredient supports immune function by stimulating macrophages and natural killer (NK) cells and modulates inflammatory pathways via its complex of polysaccharides and sesquiterpenes. It is positioned as a sustainable, traceable, and consistent alternative to conventionally harvested echinacea for the dietary supplement and functional food markets.
